Who are the Alief Democrats?
Alief Democrats have a long history but the current club was restarted in 2004 by Karen Loper and Joyce Funderburk. Joyce served as the first president with Stanford Bowman, Winnie Hurston, Thomas Price, Lupe Martinez, and Trang Tran serving as officers. Charles Meisgeier, Elsa Durham, Norma Smith, Allen Treidel, Marie Lee, Endy Zaldivar Wilson and Leif Hatlen also served in the 2005 to 2007 period.
Presidents since have been Doris Edington in 2006, Paul Doland in 2007, Lee Harper Wilson in 2008, and Leif Hatlen 2009-2011.
Alief Democrats have been active in supporting Hubert Vo, Rep for Dist 149, and other Democratic candidates in local and county-wide races. The area served by the club corresponds to the Alief ISD boundaries but we welcome all in the area.

We work in Alief on the grass roots level to increase Democratic voters in Alief and to elect Democrats.
