President Obama: "I Refuse to Take NO for an Answer."

WE CAN NOT WAIT - President Obama
Using a recess appointment, on January 4 the President appointed Richard Cordray to lead the Consumer Financial Protection Agency. Although President Obama had named Mr. Cordray for this post last summer, the Republicans have consistently stonewalled a vote to confirm the appointment in a clear attempt to keep the agency from its goal of protecting the consumer from predatory business practices. Roundly criticized by Republicans for using a legitimate (and oft-used by Republican presidents) authority granted to the President to make the appointment, President Obama has refused to allow further procrastination and obstructionism. He has stepped up to protect the middle class because, as he has stated clearly, "We can't wait." Let's work to support Democratic principles of fairness and equality for all Americans in 2012 by supporting our President's leadership.
Primary Election Date is now set - April 3, 2012
Because the redistricting case is still unsettled, the Texas Democratic Party, under the leadership of Boyd Ritchie, has worked with the Republican party to establish a single Primary date in April, avoiding a split Primary in which the Presidential nominations would have been decided in one election and State nominations in another. That would have been a huge taxpayer expense and resulted in voter confusion. The redistricting case will continue to the Supreme Court and TDP's General Counsel, Chad Dunn, will represent the interests of Texas Democrats. You can follow the details here or on the Texas Democratic Party's own web site. A link to the TDP site is at the bottom of this page.
